When you find yourself unimpressed with all your clothing choices, you know it’s time for a makeover. The problem is, clothes shopping can cost a small fortune. Showing restraint is an effective way to save money, but when you need a whole new wardrobe, it just isn’t an option. Thankfully, you can avoid breaking the bank, no matter how much you need a shopping spree. With that in mind, here are six ways to makeover your wardrobe when you’re on a tight budget.

  1. Buy Out Of Season

Stocking up on sunglasses and bikinis is an exciting pre-summer activity. Sadly, it can be an expensive one too. When you buy summer clothes around summertime and winter clothes when it’s cold, you’ll find yourself spending much more. This is because stores raise the prices according to demand. Because of this, you should shop for your clothes out of season instead.

  1. Invest In Statement Pieces

Basic clothing items, like plain t-shirts, don’t need to have designer labels. Rather than splashing the cash on these uninteresting garments, you should invest in statement pieces. These items can easily turn mundane and boring clothes into a trendy outfit. Buying a new statement piece every few weeks will not only protect your budget but keep your wardrobe fashion-forward.

  1. Use A Discount Code

Paying full-price for clothes should be avoided when possible. While you usually can’t haggle in clothing stores, there are other ways to secure a discount. With the internet at your fingertips, finding special offers is easy. Whether you need a Forever 21 voucher or a Macy’s coupon, you can do so online. Many magazines and newspapers also have discount codes printed inside.

  1. Trade With Your Friends

Most friends will happily lend you a dress or pair of shoes for a special occasion, especially if they don’t wear them often. If you’ve fallen in love with a garment, however, you should ask for a trade. Just like you, your friends might be feeling bored with their wardrobe choices. An easy solution for everyone is to gather all the clothes you don’t want and trade them with one another.

  1. Hit The Charity Shops

When free second-hand clothes aren’t an option, you can always pay. Shopping in charity stores is a brilliant way to makeover your wardrobe. This is because it saves money and helps a worthy cause at the same time. Just make sure that you check every garment carefully. Although charity shops rarely accept damaged clothing, you might find a huge rip or stain that no one else did.

  1. Look At Other Sections

No matter where you shop, you’ll often find that women’s clothes are more expensive than men’s. For this reason, you should look in the men’s section too. A white t-shirt is a white t-shirt, regardless of which rack in the store you buy it from, after all. When buying universal items, the men’s section tends to offer better quality, as well as a more affordable price.

Clothing is a big investment, but with the advice above, you can makeover your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
