After moving to Nashville from Dubai, I was going through a bit of trouble adjusting to the new environment and was missing my family, my cat and my friends back in Dubai and the city itself. I wasn’t able to make new music and instead, I just focused on learning new things and remixing old projects. Then one day, I had an idea while I was taking a nap and I ran to my computer and started working on the drop of this song,” explains Graham. “I then started writing the verse and the chorus and I didn’t know what I was going go to be writing the lyrics about but subconsciously I put a tape rewind sample and a vinyl hiss noise at the start of the song for it to signify that this is a track that’ll take you on a nostalgic trip. After finishing it, I sent this song to my friend Ananya who lives back home in Dubai and she had talked to me about wanting to write a song about home. Then I brought Emily onto this project and we started talking about our childhoods and the relationships we had as teenagers and also about how many of the friend groups that we had at that time dissolved even though we had some great times so we decided to write about the good things that came out of our friendships as teenagers and that we’ll take the memories to our graves.”

Gladwyn Graham was born and raised in Dubai. He started playing the drums at the age of six and would frequent the recording studio with his father, who was a songwriter. Even though the sessions were long, Gladwyn was curious about the process, and would frequently ask questions to the engineers. Rather than being dismissive of a young child, they took him seriously and gave him thoughtful answers, which only encouraged him to learn and question more.

At the age of 13, Gladwyn joined the school band and had little interest in his other courses, often skipping class to practice music.  A pivotal moment in Gladwyn’s artistic growth happened when he heard the Coldplay song “A Sky Full Of Stars” produced by Avicii. He was fascinated by EDM music and wanted to capture and create that type of sound but he couldn’t get anywhere as he didn’t have the tools nor the know-how and started pursuing other interests inside the music. He was gifted an audio interface and microphone in 2017 and started making cover songs.  When his family and friends responded well to his work, he felt even more motivated to pursue his passion. Although he was getting good feedback on his songs, Gladwyn didn’t feel completely satisfied. He wanted to create something that was completely his own and brand new. He began experimenting with instrumental tracks, recording mixing and mastering music of his own.

He was introduced to San Holo, Illenium, Said The Sky and Martin Garrix and wanted to make EDM resuming his pursuit from almost 5 years before this. And then one night, he did it, he made his first EDM track (which has never been released) and it was a game-changer. Gladwyn fell in love with the process of making EDM and his pursuit of that sound never stopped. He released an E.P. under the name Gladwyn James Graham which is his full name which was released in May of 2019 and a single which was released in August of 2019 along with a rock ballad which he released in June. Now, he is releasing another single under stage name Gladwyn Graham.
