The irrepressible Doktor enjoyed a big moment with his recent track ‘Action’. Picking up airplay from DJ Target and Seani Bat 1Xtra plus Jamie Rodigan at Reprezent Radio, it also featured on Spotify’s Afro Bashment playlist and Apple’s New Music Daily. Doktor’s huge crossover potential was further underlined when Clash highlighted it as their Track of the Day. The video has already had almost 600,000 views.
Now Doktor bursts into 2020 by dropping his new single ‘Flex ‘n’ Bounce’ which premiered on DJ Target last night and online at Dummy this morning. It’s pure playful bashment energy with Doktor’s smooth topline matched by Dot Inc’sproduction as they combine to bring some fire to these freezing months. Listen here.
The song’s message is simple: forget the haters and make the most of every moment. Or, in Doktor’s words, “‘Flex ‘n’ Bounce is about not worrying too much. Make money, enjoy life and dance!”
Having worked his magic on ‘Action’, director Eric Myers returned to create the ‘Flex ‘n’ Bounce’ visual. Watch here. It’s a house party vibe, with Doktor leading the kind of simple-yet-infectious dance moves you could imagine becoming big at TikTok in the coming weeks. Born in Jamaica, Doktor moved to London as a teenager. His versatile vocal gift spans everything from boisterous toasting to sensual R&B, which has made him a go-to collaborator for the likes of Chase & Status, Tyga, Sigma, Flux Pavilion, Lokate, DJ Friction and Spice. A naturally charismatic performer, Doktor has also shared stages with star names such as Kano,Wiley, Nas, Busta Rhymes and Ne-Yo.
An entirely independent artist, Doktor is also making fresh waves in Jamaica. The rise of ‘Action’ saw him featured in the national newspaper The Gleaner, while ‘Flex ‘n’ Bounce’ is already igniting dancefloors.
