With tens of millions of streams and dozens of sold out shows under his belt, rising alternative pop singer-songwriter CHRISTIAN FRENCH shares his first single of 2019 entitled “Heavy Snow”.

Blanketed by swells of heavy production in between sparse piano, the song highlights the stark power of his voice and exquisite lyricism. In the midst of this perfect sonic storm of strong kicks and sharp notes, he intones, “I’m looking for a way out of this heavy snow.” The instrumental buildup of subs combined with layered pitched-down vocals creates a dense, yet raw sonic landscape and a feeling of gravity.
The snow doubles as a metaphor for his own affliction with anxiety, dealing with the struggle bravely and with unfiltered honesty. More “than just putting another record out,” the release holds a very special significance for Christian.
“‘Heavy Snow’ came about after a long-term internal battle with anxiety where insecure thoughts running through my heard were so distracting that I couldn’t enjoy or experience what life was giving me,” he admits. “I found myself becoming detached from the people around me. It literally felt like there was a fog between reality and what was going on inside my head. During this period, I wasn’t writing music, and I just didn’t feel like myself. I went back home to Indiana, spent some time alone, and wrote I was feeling with the parallel of feeling cold and lost in a heavy snowstorm. I sat down at my piano, found the right chords, and the words finally came.”

About Christian French
Self-taught and self-started, Indiana native Christian French went from posting acoustic covers on Soundcloud in high school and while attending Indiana University, to collaborating with producers such as Triegy and GRAMMY® Award-nominated Dru Decaro and touring with the likes of Chelsea Cutler and Quinn XCII.
