It isn’t just thugs and regular, run of the mill people who get in trouble with the law. Celebrities tend to get in trouble too! There are some you may know about. For example, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and other party girls who have been well known for driving while under the influence, amongst other things. Then there’s Winona Ryder and her shoplifting scandal, not to mention Eminem and the man he pistol whipped (he’s rapped about it in so many of his songs, come on). However, there are celebrities you probably didn’t even know have been in trouble with the law.

Matthew McConaughey
Matthew McConaughey hasn’t been in trouble for a long time, but back in the day he was a bit of a rebel. In 1999, Matthew was arrested and spent time in jail for smoking pot. Not only was he smoking pot, he was playing the bongos really, really loudly. This might not sound like the most rebellious act, but his neighbors and the police decided otherwise. They arrived at his home at 3am after his neighbor complained, and found him dancing naked. However, McConaughey claims that the police entered the property illegally and used excessive force in arresting him. There are many ways to conduct an arrest warrant search, but that isn’t it. Although we don’t know the full story, we do know that his time behind bars wasn’t all that bad. While in jail, he managed to get his cell mates to join him in a sing song.
Will Smith
That’s right – the rapper who doesn’t swear in his songs and seems like an all round great guy, Will Smith, was arrested in 1989 after being involved in an assault. The assault was apparently so bad that one man was almost blind after the encounter. Will was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and criminal conspiracy. Quite the mouthful! However, the charges were later dropped.
Khloe Kardashian
Khloe Kardashian is never out of the public eye for too long – they are big news. The entire family is famous for various things, including their TV program ‘keeping up with the Kardashians’. However, back in 2007, Khloe was sentenced to 3 years probation for driving under the influence of alcohol. She broke the terms of her probation and was then sentenced to 30 days in jail to be carried out the next year. Due to ‘overcrowding’ she served a measly 3 hours. Oh to be a celebrity!
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are well known rock stars from one of the biggest bands in history – the Rolling Stones. Back in 1967, the police raided the home of Keith Richards, and happened to stumble upon Richards, Jagger, and Marianne Faithfull getting cozy in a fur rug. The police decided that Faithfull was on drugs as she presented a lack of inhibition. After a lengthy investigation, it was found that the songstress had bought amphetamines into the UK, but Jagger, ever the gentleman, said they were his. He was sent to Brixton prison, but did just 3 nights of a 3 month sentence as there was public outrage. Richards was charged with allowing drugs to be taken in his home and was given a 12 month term, but did just 1 night before being released on bail. It was later dismissed on appeal.
