LA-based grunge/rock band BLACKTOP QUEEN have released their brand new single, “BLACKOUT”. The track “takes the outfit’s garage roots and pumps it full of arena sized hooks and skyscraping energy, rocking out your speakers like some kind of unholy cross between Cage The Elephant and Kings of Leon.” (Neon Gold)

BLACKTOP QUEEN will open for Bishop Briggs at The Troubadour in West Hollywood on June 7th.

LA has made quite the impression on alternative music over the past few decades, producing some of the most unique and captivating acts of our generation. The latest yield comes in the form of BLACKTOP QUEEN- an Echo Park-based trio of seasoned musicians who, as they often do, formed from the ashes of previous bands, soured relationships, and breakups. Their gritty yet anthemic sound is nestled comfortably between garage and arena rock, combining all the finest elements of quality songwriting and raw production. The group features Colorado transplant drummer Nate Lotz, and Southern California natives Omar Ahmed on bass, and vocalist/guitarist Evan Ambrose. Together, the trio has set out to create something true to their roots as musicians, who all grew up playing literal “garage rock.”

“We don’t want perfection in the recording process,” explains Ambrose. “We actually love and invite human error and spontaneity when we play. It evokes emotion when things mold and change in the tracking room.”

Drawing comparisons to alternative heavyweights like Weezer, Cage the Elephant, and Kings of Leon, Blacktop Queen have unveiled their new song “Blackout” – a loud, punching, and raw track with a chorus that seems to explode out of the speakers as you listen. “Blackout” is the first of many self-produced tracks – all recorded live, and impressively in one take. Continuing in the DIY spirit, the band takes a true hands on approach to the entire artistic process by creating their own artwork, music videos, stage decor, and more.
