It’s been well over a year since the release of ANE’s Bitan EP. Last week (12/3/2018), the Korean-American singer/songwriter broke her silence with her brand new single “Physical,” premiered by NYLON. Today (12/10/2018), the soulful, Malcolm Fong-produced new-age ‘quiet storm’ jam is now available on all digital platforms.

“The combination of living in New York and being immersed in today’s culture of swiping right and left on dating apps and scrolling through social media feeds, it is so difficult to make a real connection with someone. People like having options today, more than ever, and it makes it really difficult to dig deep with someone. This song is about the rare instance that it does in today’s ADD society. And I wanted to share that feeling in a song.” – ANE

ANE (an acronym for “A New Era” and pronounced “Ann-nee”) makes music that is subtle, yet heady and equally consuming. Her enchanting mystique shines through her hypnotic songwriting, and her sultry vocals pull you in over the unique blend of synth-pop and soul.

Raised in a strict, Korean-American home in New Jersey with no musical background, ANE grew up without the records of her parents nor a TV for the better half of her childhood. Perhaps by designed, ANE still managed to find her way as a recording artist. With inspiration she found as a kid from The BeatlesStevie Wonder‘ s Hotter Than July, and TLC‘s CrazySexyCool, ANE grew into a singer/songwriter that embodies a sheer contrast of contemporary and vintage sounds. Classically trained in college, her fusion of electronic, pop and soul is filtered through the ethos of musical inspirations like Donny HathawayEtta JamesLauryn HillAmy Winehouse, and Nina Simone. Her chosen name stands for “A New Era,” and she represents the evolution happening in music, fashion and art today.
