On 11 October 2019, aboutagirl, rising pop duo from London, release their third single “Deep Sea Diving”, with LA-based singer emir taha. aboutagirl is made up of Tom Mann and Lostboy, two young, well-established pop writers, who came together after they realised their shared desire to create their own alternative-contemporary pop music. Equally informed by The 1975 as they are by Drake, the duo’s new single “Deep Sea Diving” is released on all digital services on Friday 11 October 2019.
aboutagirl’s first two singles “Forest Fire” and “KaMiKaZe” have received great support from BBC Radio 1, with both tracks picking up plays on the station’s Best New Pop show. They have also secured a wide range of strong online coverage including Alfitude, When The Horn Blows, That Buzzing Sound, Divine Magazine and many more, whilst their remixes of Dua Lipa’s Swan Song and Dermot Kennedy’s ‘Outnumbered’, have racked up tens of thousands of streams in a matter of weeks.
“Deep Sea Diving” develops the electro-pop sound that aboutagirl has become known for, and further pushes their commentary on the world. Featuring on the new single, emir taha is a Turkish-born, LA-based singer who has been making waves in the music industry after dropping a series of buzzy releases on Soundcloud and co-writing singles for the likes of Why Don’t We and many more.
Speaking about their upcoming single, Tom Mann and Lostboy of aboutagirl said: “We wrote Deep Sea Divingwith some of our best mates in an old house in LA, which had a pool that was so dirty you couldn’t really see to the bottom. It was gross. But it became this whole concept about trying to get to the bottom of someone’s real personality, seeing past all the fronting and pretences that they have.”
“Deep Sea Diving” will be available on all streaming services and digital music stores from Friday 11 October 2019.
