Beginning with a sample of birdsong recorded on his phone when struggling with writer’s block, ‘When I Try’ is the second single from Hydromag’s upcoming EP ‘This Is Fleeting’. Inspired in part by his affinity with the beaches of Cornwall, the track began life when Josh Best-Shaw (Hydromag) took an old keyboard up to the North Coast, and wrote the song in a couple hours. Bedroom recording genius Hydromag writes as he feels – thats what makes us connect with him.
He amassed so far, over 300,000 plays total on Spotify, radio plays on BBC Radio 1and Radio 6 Music, Reached top 20 on Amazing Radio.

About Hydromag
Hydromag is the project of Falmouth-based producer and multi instrumentalist Josh Best-Shaw. After leaving his previous band he retreated to his bedroom to setup a recording studio, and began to work on the ‘Sweet Obsession’ EP in 2017. The debut single ‘I Need to Know’ received support from BBC Radio 1, and quickly defined the sound of Hydromag, described by Josh to be a mixture of dream pop and shoegaze.
