Today Divine is thrilled to interview Leon Corbin, a UK based actor here in London. Leon started his acting career at a very young age and has gone on to feature in many well-known films that we’re sure you’ll recognise. He was kind enough to answer some questions about himself.

Hi there Leon. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview with us. Let’s get going.

I always ask some weird and wonderful questions first to loosen up our interviewees so without further ado, let’s get to them.

Getting to know Leon

Do you have any pets?

No, would love to though! It’s just not very practical for me at the moment, because of where I reside.

If you were a super hero what powers would you have and what would your hero name be?

Flying, stopping crimes before they happen and magic. Superhero name would be Corbinman.

What would be your dream sandwich?

Coleslaw, cheese, cucumber, tomato’s, with salad cream.

Do you wear sunglasses indoors to look cool or stylish?

It depends… (Divine. Hmm we, wonder on what :))

If you could steal one thing without consequence what would it be?

A pet rabbit! (Divine -Interesting…)

Are you into the Pokemon craze?

Not really, but then I’ve not tried it extensively, so the jury’s still out on that one.

Now for the more serious stuff….

I notice you did a two-year Sound Engineering course as well as drama and other studies. What promoted this and has doing this helped you break into acting, or is there no correlation really?

Well, the A-level drama course and the Sound Engineering HND course were done at separate times, but they both helped, for sure. I had got the acting bug from 2 musicals and a play, which I had done at school and with the youth councils (Both based in Birmingham). Dracula Spectacular, Grease and A Change Of Heart. Music has always been loved by the family, as my mother is a singer and my father loves his reggae and roots! Also, one of my uncles is a singer / guitarist/ songwriter and the other is a DJ.

You probably always get asked who you most enjoyed working with in your filming career and I know this can put people on the spot. Are you able to tell us anything without getting into trouble?

Daniel Craig (Skyfall), Martin Kemp (Top Dog/Age Of Kill), Dani Dyer, Marcus Langford (Age Of kill), Leo Gregory (Top Dog), Ann Mitchell, Shana Mcgarty, Jacqueline Jossa, Jesse Wallace, Shane Richie, Danny Boy Hatchard, Danny Dyer, Luisa Bradshaw White, Samantha Womack, Rudolph Walker, Adam Woodyatt, June Brown (Eastenders), Naeem Mahmood, Melissa Latouche, Paul Chiedozie, (Brash Young Turks), Rachel Weisz (Disobedience), Paul Walker (RIP), Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrone Gibson, Ludicrous, (Fast And Furious 6), Ashley T Mac Nicol, Penny Judd (Only Human), Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Sir Michael Caine, Daniel Radcliffe, Dave, Lizzie Caplan, (Now You see Me 2), Andy Leeks, Shiraz Khan, Liam Walsh, Eleanor Smith, Chaz Gill, Martin Tempest, John Crane (The Harbinger/Bfi), Ivana Chubbuck, Patrick Regis, Tina G Harlow (Chubbuck Technique), Lara Duke (Arkham Sanitarium)

Divine- wow that’s a lot of names. You’ve certainly worked with some truly diverse people. Ahem. We see our Susan Mac Nicol’s daughter included in this illustrious list. You did a short, amateur dramatic film with her called Being Human.

Your music and DJ career is obviously very special to you. Why do you think you’ve chosen two very creative and artistic paths?

Yes, they are both arts, you are right, but completely different-at the same time!

You’ve recently written and directing a new feature film called Trevor Martin 006.5, which you’re also starring in the lead role. You’ve billed it as a ‘James Bond spin off, with much humour and action.’ How far along are you with this project, when will we be able to see it and can you give us any sneak peeks into what it’s all about?

I always wanted to perform as a James Bond style character, if not as Mr. Bond himself! So, I was at home one day and had this idea. I started writing this idea which eventually turned into a script. Trevor Martin 006.5. It’s humorous and shall be full of drama and action hopefully!! The final audition date is in 7 days’ time. We aim to shoot In the Netherlands this coming August, with a release date set for September/October 2018. We have a very big cast already, but keep your eyes peeled, as more cast info/reveals shall be coming in February.

Acting is a tough world to be in, being extremely competitive and often cut-throat. What’s the best piece of advice you could give to anyone hoping to break into this market?

What’s the most important trait they need to possess to make it? As Sylvester Stallone says -work hard.

Leon’s favourite quote- I honestly think it is better to be a failure at something you love than to be a success at something you hate.

And finally, tell us what’s next on the cards for the fabulous Leon Corbin. I see you have an audition in April in Birmingham for a feature film- can you tell us anything about this one or what your next plans are?

You’re the fabulous one! The audition in April is for the film “Who Is The Sun King.” It’s a compelling feature, with great character definition. Also, I am part of Keeping up with the Brokers, a TV pilot. Going forward, funding my film shall be an essential project.

If you want to find out more, kindly add or follow me on Facebook, as Leon Corbin, or/and @DjLipbass on Twitter, You’ll be kept up to date. There’s quite a lot going on in my life, but I like to help others out too if or when possible! Thank you 🙂 X
