At age 17, Charlotte graced the stage of NBC’s “The Voice” to showcase her talent. Although she was not selected to move on in the competition, this was a defining moment that would help fuel her ambitions to become a better singer-songwriter.

In June of 2022, Charlotte released her first recording project entitled, The Colors of You. It features songs that embody her experiences as a teen. She hopes the album will encourage people to be okay with who they are and that her music helps those battling mental health and social anxieties. It was produced under her company Blu Music Group.

What first got you into music?

I grew up around listening and singing to oldies because of my family. My mother sang in different groups as well as my aunt, so I naturally gravitated towards what they were doing. Overall, I would say my first encounter with music was watching my mom sing.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I would describe my music as versatile. I love mixing old sounds and nuances with the old. In that sense I still strive to create a more futuristic sound while keeping the traditional music played throughout different decades. I would say my music incorporates various genres such as Blues, R&B, folk, Indie, and pop.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with H.E.R, her music and vibes are electrifying, and I feel like she would be able to stretch me as a musician.

What is one message you would give to your fans?

One message I would give to fans is to not be afraid to go for their dreams, life is too short.

Have you got a ritual of sorts when writing and thinking about your music?

Usually when writing and coming up with songs I lay an instrumental down first then from their inspiration flows. Sometimes I will randomly think of a melody and record it so I can later go back and add music.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

The best advice I have been given and that still sticks to me is “No risk no reward”.To me this means if you’re not willing to stretch yourself and put the work in than results are less likely to show, but if you do put that work in it will all be worth it in the end.

Who are your main musical influences?

My main musical influences are, Etta James, H.E.R, The Beatles, and Beyonce.

Have you always been interested in music? Was there a particular song/performance that made you say “Woah! I want to do that!”?

Yes, I have always been interested in music since I was a little girl. I remember for a show I was involved in I had to sing with a little help from my friends the Joe Cocker version. In order to fully get into character and performance I watched the live show of him, and I was absolutely astonished. He moved on the stage so freely and had this great energy about him. From watching this live performance, I took notes and when it came time to perform, I channelled my inner Joe Cocker!

What do you enjoy most about being an artist?

What I enjoy most about being an artist is that I can share a piece of myself with everyone else. There is something so special about being able to connect with others through music. It is a beautiful encounter that happens, and I am grateful to connect with people in such a way.

What is the most useless talent you have?

I have a pretty good British accent, ahoy mate!

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I love to sing bad bitch songs in the shower, for example I bump to Meghan thee stallion.

If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?

Inside Charlotte Blu’s mind

What would be a good theme song for your life?

I would say a good theme song that sums up my life is Pursuit Of Happiness by Kid Cudi.

What was the last TV series you watched on TV?

Cobra Kai is the last series I watched, and it is a great show. I did karate classes when I was younger, so the show is extremely entertaining for me.

What historical Figure would you love to see in 21st century life?

I would love to meet Bob Marley because he is the coolest dude on earth. I feel like one conversation with him would change my life.

If you had to describe yourself as a flavor, what would it be?

I would say tajin, sweet and spicy!
