The animation studio, Skydance Animation, is making a name for itself in the arena of animated films. Studio director John Lasseter has been a driving force behind both Blush and Luck, two highly creative films from the studio that have already been released for audiences of all ages.

Skydance Animation is a relatively new studio that focuses on projects that are highly creative and original. It has attracted several exciting hires that have made it the studio to watch.

Skydance Animation is led by John Lasseter and was conceived as a place for the biggest and best names in animation to come together to be as creative as possible. With headquarters in Madrid and New York, John Lasseter came into the studio with many years of experience behind him at both Disney Animation Studios and Pixar. He won two Academy Awards for his animation work. He was a major cause of the popularity and success of Pixar, and he brought this drive to Skydance. The studio makes shorts, feature-length films, and series that are each created with care to touch the heart and are some of the most original stories being made today.

Recent Successes From SkyDance Animation

Blush was the first project to be released by the studio. It’s the story of an astronaut who crash-lands on a deserted small planet. He soon meets a visitor who helps him to survive and to build a brand new life for himself. This short was released to high acclaim and found an audience of people who enjoyed its originality and beautiful style of animation. It was aired on Apple TV+, as have the subsequent offerings of the studio that was founded by John Lasseter.

Luck was a full-length feature film that was well-received by audiences who liked its animation and the wealth of celebrity voice actors who made the film memorable. The movie is centered on a young woman with bad luck who finds herself in the Land of Luck with a host of fun characters. There she meets the luckiest person in the land and seeks luck of her own. As with Blush, the studio sought the best names in animation to bring this original story to life.

Spellbound

The next big splash from Skydance Animation will be the feature film Spellbound. Like the other offerings from the studio, this film is meant to be for all ages. This film is a musical about a girl who lives in a fantasy kingdom that someone has cast a spell on to cut it into two kingdoms. As the young girl tries to break the spell, she meets a lot of helpful characters along the way.

The original score of Spellbound was written by Alan Menken, an Academy Award-winning composer. The lyrics were written by Glenn Slater. Vicky Jenson directs the film and is known for her experience with Shrek. John Lasseter serves as one of the producers of this film. Like the other releases from Skydance, it was released through Apple TV+ as a part of a long-running deal between the studio and the network.

In Spellbound, the Queen of Lumbria and King Solon are kind rulers of the land who have a princess daughter, Ellian. All three of them go out to try to save the kingdom as well as themselves and keep the whole land from being kept in darkness. Ellian travels to see the Oracles of the Sun and Moon to restore everyone from turning into monsters and to save the land. Nicole Kidman stars as the Queen of Lumbria, and Javier Bardem as King Solon. Princess Ellian is voiced by Rachel Zegler. There is also a deal with an entertainment company to make Spellbound toys.
