Kadence James is an American singer/songwriter. He graduated with a. major in dance from a high school for the performing Arts in New York. He went on to study at Broadway Dance Center and Acting Technique at HB Studios in Soho. He then transitioned into the Pop/R&B music industry in the late 90’s. He was a member of two different local boy bands called “In Touch and Crush.” He then spent time as a solo artist performing in some of the most prestigious R&B night clubs such as the legendary “Blue Angel.” Kadence is currently working on his Pop-solo recording career.

You are a new addition to a crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
I would be a rich, dark amber. It reminds me of fire, the element I am most fascinated with.

If you could learn any language fluently, what would it be?
Arabic
Who inspired you to make music?
I have had many inspirations, some of them include Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, James Ingram, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Adele, Bruno Mars, and Justin Bieber.
What is your creative process like?
It varies. Either I am presented with a track and put lyrics to it, or I write a lyric with a conceptual melody. Then I go back and forth with my producer, each continuing to add to the music and lyric until the song is written. Then I record the song in my home studio and send it to my producer for mixing and mastering.
If you could go open a show for any artist, who would it be?
Madonna, Beyonce or Bruno Mars
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Know yourself, be true to yourself, be controlled by no man or thing.
What’s next for you?
I plan on releasing a single each month, developing a fanbase, and playing locally over the next year. Then I am hopeful to be signed by a label and an aggressive management co.
How would you describe your music?
I write pop music. Dance tracks, mid-tempos and ballads. I love hip-hop, r & b, and rock influences.
What sets your music apart? What is unique, or at least uncommon?
I am interested in capturing sounds that are not presently saturating the pop market. I also endeavour to reach a broad base of people. I love people, all kinds of people and want to reach all races, ages, genders, etc.
What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
There is something uniquely satisfying about being creative. It is different than say recreating something already created. It is artistically, mentally, intellectually, emotionally and physically rewarding.
What are your ambitions as a songwriter and musician from here?
To continue writing and producing for myself as well as collaborating with others.
What draws you to your preferred genre?
I am a singer and a dancer. I love theatre and pop music is the perfect genre for my personal expression.
How do you deal with writer’s block?
I usually write a song in stages. I stop everything and write the moment inspiration comes, so writer’s block is not usually a problem for me.
Was anyone else involved in writing, recording, or producing the songs?
Brandon Van Allen is my current producer and co-writer. We have released four songs together this year.
Would you have any advice for would-be artists or songwriters wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Be patient, consistent and true to the craft. Do all you can to succeed and trust that the path will unfold as it should.
