Anxiety is quite common among people of all ages, and sometimes it proves to be utterly advantageous because it helps us prepare for events and situations that make us anxious.

However, if you talk about anxiety disorders, they are way too different from anxiety. An anxiety disorder is nothing but a type of mental problem wherein a person feels remarkably anxious about future events, and it affects their life severely.

In other words, people affected with an anxiety disorder experience excessive fear, which prevents them from carrying out their work with ease. It not only affects their concentration level and makes it difficult for them to fall asleep but has a drastic impact on their overall health.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, “In 2013, there were 8.2 million cases of anxiety in the UK.” It also states that “In England, women are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with anxiety disorders as men.“

Common Types of Anxiety Disorders

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Specific Phobia
  • Separation anxiety Disorder
  • Panic Disorder

Here’re The Signs and Symptoms of These Anxiety Disorders

  • Excessive sweating and a fast heart rate
  • Extreme fear and anxiety
  • Feeling impatient and irritable
  • Difficulty concentrating and losing interest in favorite activities
  • Muscle pain and tension
  • Frequent episodes of headaches
  • Difficulty in falling asleep
  • Problem in breathing
  • Having a feeling of using the washroom frequently
  • Nausea and tiredness
  • Numbness in hands as well as feet

Tried And Tested Ways of Recovering From Anxiety

Think Positive

Positive thinking can prove to be an utterly vital weapon for battling anxiety. It will help you cope with your negative thoughts that are making it tough for you to focus on anything. Staying optimistic under all the circumstances can bring a world of difference in your overall health. It will not only keep you happy even if things go wrong but will also enhance your confidence.

So, whether you are dealing with the anxiety that stems from a troubled relationship, tight deadlines at work, financial problems, chronic illness, or drug abuse, thinking positively about your life can change things drastically.

Exercise Regularly

Invest your time in constructive activities like carrying out exercises. Create an effective workout routine and spend at least 45 minutes each day performing effective moves. Include both aerobic and anaerobic exercise in your fitness program to enhance your overall well-being.

When you invest your time in carrying out intense activities, it improves both your physical and mental health. You start feeling energetic and experience a vast difference in your mental health as well.

Do Mindful Meditation

Meditation is also a great tool to control your mind and the way you think. It brings a unique change in the way you perceive the world around you. Regular meditation provides long-lasting benefits for both your physical and mental health. It offers you the strength to manage your emotions effectively. Whether you are feeling sad, anxious, angry, or depressed, meditation can help you rewire your brain and lead a beautiful life.

Share Your Problem With Others

If you are worried about something, you can share that problem with people who are close to your heart or whom you trust a lot. Talking about your experience with others can create a world of difference in the way you handle your emotions. When you receive support from others, you get that much-needed confidence to deal with your problem. You can choose your parents, spouse, children, or even a friend to share your thoughts. They will guide you and support you in your recovery process. In short, you can rely on their support for managing your emotions.

Keep Yourself Busy

Keeping yourself occupied is also a highly useful weapon to recover from an anxiety disorder. Whether you are suffering from a generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, separation anxiety disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder, you can benefit a lot by keeping yourself busy.

Find creative ways to stay occupied; for example, you can learn painting, sketching, dancing, singing, swimming, and gardening, etc. By keeping yourself busy in this way will not only help you master a new skill but will also make you utterly happy.

Seek Therapy For Anxiety Disorder

One of the best ways to treat anxiety disorder is to seek therapy at a reliable rehab center. You can look for an outpatient treatment program for overcoming your anxiety disorder.

According to Charter Harley Street, “Anxiety can weaken your potential to enjoy your life. You experience a persistent nagging and unease but find it difficult to manage, which can even lead to sleep deprivation, loss of appetite, and feeling restless.”

Most people struggling with this emotional issue, end up using drugs and alcohol to deal with it, which further ruins their mental and physical health.

Therefore, if you want a permanent solution to this problem, seek therapy for it. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure therapy for anxiety, talk therapy and complementary therapies, etc., are highly beneficial in treating anxiety disorder.
