He's a middle-aged, newly single, gay photographer starting life over. Along comes a freshly out nineteen-year-old, irreverent free spirit who wants to be his apprentice. Mismatched by more than a generation, what could possibly go wrong? Everything! And it's AWESOME!
King Dirk the Duck: Sometimes talent can surprise you... even when it's right under your feet.
Your Brain On Disney: Doc grew up on Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes... Dirk grew up on Disney. Who knew that damned mouse was a prick tease?
Grey Poupon: We've all smoked grass. We've all made an ass of ourselves doing it at one time or another. It's the herb of a thousand embarrassments.

Dirk is honest to the bone and the way it's put down and shows us, is just close to the heart and head, it warms you and makes you wonder....also wishing I could go back to oblivious.

"All the dumb doo-da shit you have to go through because you don’t want to go out in public and show people you’re really a lazy, procrastinating slob. And perv.”

When I hear Dirk talking....I listen (read) and I only can agree with him. I love how he express himself about life, seeing it unfiltered. What I really admire and appreciate is the fact how Dirk interact with and always has eyes for Doc, attentive... and always himself.

The Dirkisms are just awesome, hilarious and sometimes tearful but always entertaining.

All the little stories in this story are very entertaining, consuming and also heartwarming.
The interactions between the gang is one of a kind, humorous and respectful.

Dirk is also one of a kind. How his mouth finds all those thoughts in words come out....it's a gift....
And Dan....so gifted with his observations and writing style....i soooo love it.

I'm a bit jealous of the people living around D+D who listen at the book- and watch the skateboard gatherings. I have to visualize them in my head...i can do that...I'll manage....
I wonder....how is the Dirk's photography doing?

"I think I'll make a Tshirt with "I love Doc and Dirk"

Highly recommend to all readers of this review
