About the Author
Often referred to as “Space Cowboy” and “Gangsta of Love” while still striving for the moniker of “Maurice,” Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to “Chicago.”

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He’ll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

Neal and Way’ra, Part Deux
Overall

3.0

First and foremost: this is not a standalone novel.  You do need to read The Closet Boy first, as this book picks up in the middle of a particular scene from that book and there isn’t any background information given in this installment.

Neal and Way’ra continue walking down the D/s path, learning as they go.  The premise is fairly typical of this series, a familiarity which allowed me to sink right in and get comfortable.  The characters are all familiar if you’ve read the whole series.  If you haven’t, you will definitely get lost, as this book assumes you know who the entire character cast is already.

Neal and Way are definitely in love, and continue to learn about each other’s wants and needs.  Taking place mostly in just the gym and Neal’s apartment, both locations become familiar quickly, allowing the reader to sink into the storyline with a mental picture of the scene.

This is an erotic novel, and that chemistry and heat is felt in every intimate moment.  This is one of my favorite features with this author, and he did not disappoint on that front.

My one problem with this book is that I didn’t feel the connection depth between the main protagonists the way I did in their first book.  This book let me down a bit.  I was looking forward to connecting further with Neal and Way, and it never particularly panned out.  Instead, it felt choppy and full of miscues, and as such, like it missed what could have been a really great addition to the series.

I’m rating this at three stars.  It’s a good book.  Go ahead and give it a read, and please don’t let this review discourage you from reading the series.  I am already waiting for the next in line at the Iron Eagle Gym.
