Learning to trust and falling in love.

Sammy Lowell has his hands full juggling his music, college, some pesky health problems, and making the uncles who raised him proud. He needs help fulfilling his after-school duties with his siblings. Nobody can be in two places at once—not even Sammy!

An injury puts Cooper Hoskins in a tough spot—if he can’t work, the foster sister he’s raising can’t eat. But years in the foster system have left Cooper short on trust, and opening up to accept help isn’t easy.

Luckily, family intervenes—Cooper needs a job so he can care for Felicity, and Sammy needs someone who can see past his illness to the wonderful things he has planned for his life. Each heals the damaged places in the other’s heart. But falling in love is a big responsibility for young men deep in family already. Can the two of them get past their fear of the immediate future to see forever with each other?

A sweet, multifaceted love story.
Stand by Your Manny is the third book in the Manny series by Amy Lane. It can be read as a stand-alone but I highly recommend reading these books in order. The books follow the Manny trope but all characters are multifaceted and each book follows its own unique path. These men and women come from varied and complex backgrounds and many are broken in some way. The theme of family above all else carries through the series, however, and their faith in and support of each other is what makes these people not only survive but thrive.

Cooper Hoskins is just twenty-one years old. He’s been working construction since he aged out of foster care. Trying to keep his head above water and a roof over his head is as much as he can manage for now. Cooper also has a big secret. He’s been looking after Felicity, an eleven year old runaway from a foster family that did little to provide for her needs. When Cooper has an accident at work all his secrets are exposed and it will take a big family to help him recover. Lucky for Cooper, his immediate boss, Brandon, is part of such a family, united by love if not blood. Becoming  the Manny for Brandon’s friends may just be the boost he needs.

Sammy Lowell is also twenty-one. He may have grown up in privilege but Sammy has some serious health issues that he’s been fighting most of his life. As a result his life has been sheltered and he’s never had a relationship that lasted longer than a quick kiss. When Cooper and Felicity come to stay, Sammy sees inside the shy, slightly broken young man. He sees someone who is strong and capable, but also someone who has never learnt to trust anyone with his heart. Perhaps they can each find what they need in the others arms, but it will take both of them time to open up about their pasts and accept that sometimes it takes the most strength to let go and lean on someone else.

I found the entire Manny series to be thoroughly enjoyable romantic reads. In Stand by Your Manny it was great to revisit the characters I loved from the previous books and catch up with all that has gone on in the interim. Connor and Sammy stole my heart from the beginning and I loved watching the development of their relationship amidst all the family’s chaos and love. If you are looking for a  sweet love story with depth, a fabulous family of characters and a highly satisfying HEA, then this is the book and the series for you.
