About the Author
Lillian Francis is an English writer who likes to dabble in many genres.

Always determined she wanted to write, a “proper” job and raising a family distracted Lillian for over a decade. Over the years and, thanks to the charms of the Internet, Lillian realized she’d been writing at least one of her characters in the wrong gender. Ever since, she’s been happily letting her “boys” run her writing life.

Lillian now divides her time between family, a job and the numerous men in her head all clamoring for “their” story to be told.

Lillian lives in an imposing castle on a wind-swept desolate moor or in an elaborate “shack” on the edge of a beach somewhere depending on her mood, with the heroes of her stories either chained up in the dungeon or wandering the shack serving drinks in nothing but skimpy barista aprons.

In reality, she would love to own a camper van and to live by the sea.

Colby isn’t interested in Pip’s money or his expensive address. He has only one goal: to make Pip smile again. Learning to live again

New Lease of Life is a story about a young man losing his way when something unexpected happens to change his self-perception. This is a challenge millions of people, the world over, face every day after accidents or unexpected events. The change may be physical or mental or a combination of the two, but learning to accept a new version of yourself can take enormous courage, and very often, the love of family, friends or that special someone. Lillian Francis has dealt with this issue compassionately in New Lease of Life, as we watch the journey one man takes to learn to like, and then love himself, again, with the help of his special someone.

Phillip Longhampton, Pip to his friends, suffered a disfiguring and painful leg injury when a good dead turned bad. Despite his wealth Phillip hobbles around on an ugly hospital issue crutch, throwing his back and shoulder out, and generally turning him into a grumpy old man despite his relative youth. He has pushed all his family and friends away and lives an isolated life alone in his flat, subsiding on ready made meals. This previously fastidious dresser is allowing himself to waste away, living in ghastly t-shirts and track pants. His former glorious vintage wardrobe is a daily reminder of the person he once was, so Phillip decides to donate all his beloved pieces to a charity shop.

Enter Colby Carington, a gorgeous, muscular, former fitness instructor and physio, now charity shop owner. When Colby knocks on Phillip's door he is expecting to meet an old man and is shocked to see a slightly wasted but gorgeous man standing before him. Colby is immediately attracted to Phillip, or Pipsqueak, as he comes to call him. The attraction is mutual but Pip cannot imagine how this perfect man could ever be interested in him. A previous ugly relationship has left him unable and unwilling to trust anyone.

With endless patience, humour, tricks and dogged perseverance, Colby is determined to put a permanent smile on Pip's face, and convince him he is definitely someone worthy of love. For Pip, learning to trust himself, let go of the worst of the past whilst holding on to the best, will be the hardest thing he's ever had to do. Finding a HEA won't be easy, but with trust, and ultimately love, it may yet be possible.

I absolutely loved New Lease of Life. It's a feel good story that will touch your heart and keep you riveted to the very end. Watching the techniques Colby invents to force Pip back into the real world is both funny and heartwarming. For me, an epilogue would have pushed this to a five star read. My need to know more about the future of the characters may very well be a personal preference however and, in any case, I highly recommend this book and will be looking for other stories from Lillian Francis.
