Danny Sims is in over his head, torn between his abusive lover, Joshua, and Jay Holtsclaw, the bartender up the street, who offers Danny the one thing he never gets at home: understanding.

When Joshua threatens to get rid of Danny’s terrier, Danny knows he has to act fast. Afraid of what Joshua will do to the dog, and afraid of what Joshua will do to him if he tries to leave, Danny does the only thing he can do.

He runs.

But Danny isn’t a complete fool. He has enough sense to run into the arms of the man who actually cares for him—the man he’s beginning to trust.

Just as their lives together are starting to fall into place, Danny and Jay learn how vengeful Joshua can be.

And how dangerous.

Emotional, funny and sharp
Danny and Jay
Jay realize he has to go on with his life, after a year that his partner suddenly died.... he just have to find some happiness...
He is the owner of a very successful gaybar The Clubhouse. And exactly that is the place he meets Danny for the first time.

Danny sitting at the bar having a thick jaw with knuckle bruises in it looking miserable. Jay as friendly as he is ask how he is doing and they have a honest conversation.
Danny telling him he deserved the knock because he was annoying to his boyfriend Joshua.

It did not stop with one blow, many will follow and finally Danny is leaving and flight to Jay.
Jay takes him into his safe house.

After some time pasts Danny can't handle it anymore and have to confess he is in love with Jay
and Jay sweet Jay his eyes damped.... They will never have to sleep alone ever...
Damn...now and then it was so sweet and heartwarming it made me cry.
And there was humor, the witty comments were really funny.

Only there is still the big bitch Joshua and what he has in mind....suspense is killing.
What started with a storm of violence, through a mild breeze of kindness ended like a motherfucker hurricane.

All the description of the environments were just so well done, all the little details told in a very special own way...I could visualize it lively...
The looking back on life was thoughtful and realistic all spread out at the right moments.
It was emotional but not overdone. It was steamy and hot. It was funny in a witty way. It was full of lovely sweet moments but also some ugly and angsty ones and with a burning tale...
Overall a appetizing read written in a appealing way!

The ending was epic it made my cry ugly tears.
