Written by M. Maggie, “Faded Ripped Jeans” boldly serves the confessional statement, “I don’t think you need me. You don’t fit the same on me,” describing that pivotal point when a relationship has reached a dead-end but is still lingering. “If it ain’t growing, let it go,” M. states. When asked about her inspiration for the stirring track, she says, “I had a friend with this pair of jeans that was torn up and falling apart, but he wouldn’t stop wearing them. It got to the point where his ass was showing, I couldn’t get it out of my head.” This moment would go to motivate M. further as she explains, “I was going through long-distance limbo in a relationship when Brad Kuhn hit me with that piano part. The words and melody fell out of me so simply in less than 30 minutes.” Not only does this track invoke raw emotions, it also urges listeners to know and understand their own personal worth.
A New Orleans native, M. Maggie is fascinated with music. She began singing and performing at an early age; writing songs, recording her voice and playing the guitar every day. Now, opening up for acts such as Trinidad James, Choir Boy, and MOTHXR as well as performing at venues such as The Peppermint Club, the Bowery Ballroom, and Soho House, it is clear to see that M. is an explosion of dark-pop dynamite in the music industry. “Faded Ripped Jeans” is the second record gifted from M.’s highly anticipated Love, Sex, M. album which is set to release this year. Produced by M. Maggie and Artist Incorporated (Ejay Randolph, CWB, Tie Hixon, J. Graves) the album is meant to showcase every aspect of “M.” and provide a variety of music that is sure to leave you enveloped in excitement with every listen.
Divine uplifting keys and moving vocals set the sentimental mood of “Faded Ripped Jeans,” and leaves you floating wistfully into M.’s ardent world.
