Get-to-know-Matt
What would be a good theme song for your life?
Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift
If you could learn any language fluently, which would you learn?
Japanese
Do you sing in the shower? If so, what songs?
EVERYDAY! Lol. Recently it was Bye Bye Bye.
Who would you want to play you in a movie?
As of right now, Michael Cimino. He looks very similar to me and he’s a talented actor.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your upcoming single “Dizzy”.
I’m a pop singer/songwriter from Washington D.C. I spent the first few years of my career writing for other people and put out my first release as an artist in 2019. “Dizzy” is a fun song about me poking fun at myself for only going for relationships with the biggest red flags.
Have you always been interested in music? Was there a particular song/performance that made you say “Woah! I want to do that!?”
Always. I started playing piano when I was 6 and wrote my first song when I was 11. I’d say the first project that made me go “whoa” was from the show Instant Star. It starred Alexz Joshnson and was a Canadian show. I think it came out in 2004. It was the reason I wanted to be a songwriter and sing my own songs.
Who inspired you to make music?
My biggest inspirations were Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, Britney, Amy Winehouse, and Miranda Lambert. I was always inspired by female performers and writers.
Who would you most like to collaborate with? And why?
I’d love to collaborate with Madison Beer. I’ve been such a fan of her since her EP came out in 2017 and sonically she does a lot of cool and weird things. I feel like our sounds together would be epic. And Dua Lipa would be an awesome collab.
What inspires your writing? Do you draw inspiration from poems, music, TV, or other media?
Mostly my life and the various situationships I’ve had. Every now and then I’ll watch a movie that strikes a chord and really resonates.
What are your ambitions as a songwriter and musician from here?
To rule the world.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
That’s a hard one! Probably to be patient. Sometimes it takes time for a great thing to happen.
Lastly, what’s next for you? What are your plans for future releases?
I have another song coming out in April that I’m super excited about and will have the 2nd album out before the end of the year. I’d love to be signed at some point soon.
