Nubella Honey is a modern Pop Funk artist from North Carolina. She relocated to San Diego during a time of uncertainty and loss. 2020 brought about a lot of things – a lot of good, a lot of bad. Yet the turbulence cultivated a modern sound that fused funk, pop, soul, and rock & roll.

Nubella released her first Ep -Gypsy State of Mind – a blues and soul project that reflected her struggles as she dug deep through her trials and tribulations to find her voice. She later released Whine it, an afrobeat single that showcased a different sound and direction from her earlier releases. Within that same year, she began writing and producing her album Sagittarius. As the project began to take form, a unique tone, style, and presence materialized into something unparalleled to her vocal norm. Fast forward to 2021, Nubella released Sagittarius on November 12, which fused her love of pop, funk, and rock & roll.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Great question. My passion is creating and performing music that feeds the soul, and my debut album Sagittarius fuses pop, funk, and rock&roll in one magical stew.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

At the moment, I would love to collaborate with Anderson. Paak, Jack White, Jungle, Pharrell Williams, and Rudimental. And I’m manifesting that right now into the universe.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Oooo Jesus! It would be an honor to open for Anderson . Paak and or Jungle if I had to pick one, it would be Anderson.Paak.

What is one message you would give to your fans?

I would ask my fans to be patient with me. I’m trying to get better at asking for help. I’m going through this honesty and mental health journey, and it’s hard for me to talk to others about it because I’m not used to asking for help.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

The internet has benefited and devalued the music business. The internet has benefited music by making it more accessible, expressive, and diverse. However, on the other hand, it has devalued the quality of music, while streaming services make it hard for artists to get paid what they deserve.

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I sing in the shower if the mood’s right. I typically love singing Afrobeat, Funk, or Drum and Bass. I’m a huge fan of Burna Boy(especially his African Giant album), Anderson .Paak, Jungle, Earth Wind and Fire, Curtis Mayfield, Rudimental…etc. I usually set the mood by lighting a candle and pressing play on Spotify.

What was the last TV series you watched on TV?

The last TV series I watched recently was Human Resources. The show is hilarious, the jokes were on point and not forced on you. I was tickled with enjoyment the entire time.

If you had to describe yourself as a flavor, what would it be?

I’m sweet and spicy. I’m sweet, when I care for you, I’ll try to give you the world. And I’m spicy when my kindness is mistaken for weakness.

Which are cooler? Dinosaurs or Dragons?

I’ll say Dragons because of Games of Thrones, which I never watched when it was popping. However, I recently started watching the show late last year but had to take a break to work on my album and be productive. HBO, I’m trying to get my music synced on your platform, hit me up, please.

What do you think the greatest invention has been?

The greatest invention is the internet because the internet can reveal the truth and make it more accessible. And with that accessibility comes knowledge, insightful and constructive solutions.
