Becky Crosby is a 23 year old pop/funk artist hailing from Montclair, New Jersey. Backed by a band of exceptionally talented musicians, she captivates audiences throughout the Tri-State area with her fun and energetic performances. Drawing inspiration from her extensive background in jazz, classical, and contemporary music, Crosby’s compositions possess a distinct and eclectic blend of genres.

Having recently completed her studies in Jazz at Purchase College, Becky Crosby now wholeheartedly dedicates herself to her music career. Her musical influences encompass a range of renowned artists, such as Paramore, P!nk, The 1975, Miley Cyrus, and Silk Sonic. Skillfully incorporating elements from various genres, including rock, pop, jazz, funk, and R&B, she crafts a sound uniquely her own.

What is your favorite song to perform?

I love performing my newest song “Love Like Medicine”. It’s really funky and the entire band just has a blast on stage.

How would you describe your music?

I would describe my music as pop funk with rock and jazz influences. While in music school I found a love of jazz and funk music and now really try to incorporate that into every tune that I write. The lyrics that I write are usually on the sad side, but the music tends to be really upbeat and fun!

If we were to look at the artists you are listening to, who would be on your playlist?

Recently I have been listening to a lot of Miley Cyrus, The Band Camino, The Interrupters and Modern Baseball!

What are your ambitions as a songwriter and musician from here?

I hope to play as many shows as I can and release plenty of more music. I would love to be able to do some kind of tour next year and play some cities that I have never even been to before. I also would really love to not only write music for myself, but for other artists as well. I like to write a lot of music in different genres and would love to see some artists be able to bring those songs to life.

When did you start writing music?

I wrote my first song for my school’s talent show when I was 10 years old. I actually sang it when I was just getting over a pretty bad cold, so it definitely was not my best performance. After that, I continued writing in my teen years for a couple of different pop rock bands that I was in.

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

I used to be very bad at promoting and marketing my music back in 2018 and 2019. I genuinely would just finish a song and then that night release it randomly and make a singular Instagram post about it. Since then, I have tried to better market myself and plan releases at least a few months in advance. This most recent release of my song, “Love Like Medicine”, has been in the works for quite a while so I am happy that it’s finally out!

If you were a member of the Spice Girls, what would your spice handle be?

I think Spicy Spice is a great name!

What was the last TV series you watched on TV?

I just finished watching “Married at First Sight”. I absolutely love bad reality TV dating shows like that and I am only a little ashamed to admit that.

What’s your most expensive piece of clothing?

My Dr. Martens are definitely the most expensive clothing item that I own but also the item that I love the most.

As a kid were you ever frightened of a monster under the bed or in the cupboard?

I was very much afraid of vampires at my window or monsters under my bed. I was just generally not a fan of the dark.

Which are cooler? Dinosaurs or Dragons?

Dragons. There’s no handbook on how to train a dinosaur, so I would be very confused.
