Allison St. Rock is a talented and dynamic songwriter/performer based in New York City. She’s composed two full length musicals, and brings touches of her musical theatre style to her work as an up-and-coming pop artist.

She loves drawing from different musical genres, including pop, dance pop/edm, folk, musical theatre, and a cappella. Her first single I Wanna Feel Better is available on all streaming platforms now, and she’s currently recording the rest of her EP, entitled Whirlwind, set to release mid-2021.

“You know that feeling when you hear a song, and it describes exactly how you’re feeling in the moment? And it makes you feel seen; makes you feel less alone? That’s what I want to give with my music.”

Getting to know Allison

What was the last TV series you watched on TV?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer! It’s my favorite show.

Would you rather be the one in a movie who gets the hero/heroine or the baddie with all the good lines?

I’m generally cast in the villain roles in musical theatre. When I was younger, I always wanted to be the ingenue. But I’m super tall and redheaded, and because of that I’ve gotten to play some really awesome character roles. Being a superhero would be cool, though!

If you could learn any language fluently what would it be?

French! Je parle un peu de francais, et J’apprends. I’m a bit of a francophile and I would love to live in France for a while!

What’s your favourite board game?

The Game of Life!

Are you a valuable asset on a Pub Quiz team?

I sure am! I’m great at TV and Movie trivia. I also work for a super awesome trivia company in NYC called Trivia, AD!

When you create music, what is your personal purpose or goal?

When I write music, it’s usually because I have the impulse to process an emotion that needs to be released. Ultimately, I hope that others will hear my music and feel comforted by the thought that they’re not alone if they’re feeling something similar.

What’s next for you?

I’m releasing my next single on Friday, June 4th! The song is called “LGBTQIA,” and I can’t wait to share it. It will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all music streaming platforms. It’ll be the queer dance anthem of the summer!

Was anyone else involved in writing, recording, or producing the songs?

I worked with an amazing producer on “LGBTQIA” named Leo Zarucky who I’ve worked on a few other songs with. I recorded my vocals, ironically enough, in my friend Jesse’s closet! He helped me out with my demo and had a hand in writing the music for this song before it was sent over to Leo. And his partner, Michael Angelo jumped in on some vocals for the chorus!

Are you planning any videos for your music?

The music video for my first single, “I Wanna Feel Better” will be released in June! It was so much fun to work on. Keep an eye on my Instagram for that release! There may be tap dancing involved…

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

I’m working on my first EP, Whirlwind,  which should be released by the end of the summer. I’m just deciding if I want to add one more song before releasing it!
