About the Author
Often referred to as “Space Cowboy” and “Gangsta of Love” while still striving for the moniker of “Maurice,” Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to “Chicago.”

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He’ll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

Can a wealthy but bored businessman rescue a tortured musician from his self-imposed purgatory with a scorching kinky romance?

When Rene Conette attends an intimate performance at a local bar, the guitarist moves him enough that he attempts to go backstage but is stymied by the man’s bodyguard. Putting it down as not meant to be, he goes on with his life only to run into the man again, late at night at a bookstore.

Gavin Turner used to be a famous musician until an obsessed fan kidnapped and tortured him. Then it came out that he was into the BDSM lifestyle, and the court of public opinion ravaged him. He lost his Master and his self-confidence. Now he hides behind his ink and his bodyguards, who make sure he doesn’t come into contact with anyone or anything he doesn’t want to. Though it’s been years since he satisfied his needs, he doesn’t think he can trust again.

If Rene can work his way past Gavin’s defenses, they might find they complement each other perfectly.

I was intrigued by the summary of this book. A playboy looking for a boy finds himself enamored of a silent musician sitting on a stage in just a pair of jeans with a guitar, picking out a tune so erotic he simply must meet the man. The musician plays for his soul, but after suffering a horrific trauma in his past, he has consigned himself into the safety of his home and the care of his twin bodyguards. The only exception is when his soul screams to play, and then he goes to a local bar, but there is no introduction, no interaction with whomever is there. It’s just him and his music, soothing all the ragged edges and leaving him feeling freer for a while.

That right there got me. I was sucked right in and primed for an amazing set of encounters, D/s storyline, and some healing of Gavin’s mind to go with the physical healing that has taken place over the years since his kidnapping. I’m sorry to say that I didn’t get the experience I was hoping for. I’m sorrier to say that the storyline itself never really grabbed hold of me. Neither character shows much growth, though obviously there is more on the part of Gavin than René as the latter helps encourage Gavin’s confidence in himself. Overall, it felt like the storyline was just a way to get from one sexy time to the next rather than plotted out and fleshed out.

Michael writes beautiful BDSM, and this book is no exception, though it stays mostly in the D/s aspect. Chemical attraction from the moment they meet leads to hot and then hotter scenes throughout.

The only secondary characters are the twins, Silas and Dev, who each take twelve hour shifts as Gavin’s bodyguard/driver and are his dearest friends. They are former police officers and take the guarding of Gavin very personally. They are also supportive, caring, and encouraging, which makes their small amount of print time very sweet.

I’m rating this at three stars. It’s okay, just wasn’t not my particular cup of tea. However, your mileage may vary, and I have no problem recommending this book, especially if you’re looking for some hot erotica.
