Los Angeles, CA., February 26, 2021 — Today, Annabel Gutherz, independent indie/pop singer-songwriter, has released her new single and lyric video, Not The Girl, from her debut album, Loose Ends.
“Not the Girl is a song I wrote over a lunch hour in school. I had just experienced one of several encounters with the subject of the song and was inspired to write about it. It is essentially about a very charming and intelligent boy from one of my classes who, as the lyrics suggest, was capable of “mincing words like an acrobat” while wooing girls with the flash of his brilliant smile. As easy as it would have been for me to fall for the fervor of his rhetoric, I was not fooled! As such, the song is about empowerment, seeing beyond a magnetic facade and not falling for someone’s guileful and disingenuous antics! It’s an ode to everyone who is “Not the Girl!”
Not The Girl is anchored by a driving acoustic guitar paired with Annabel’s retro-rock vocals. It is a song about feeling empowered by recognizing someone’s true intentions and not falling prey to their antics.
