Many people think you are not supposed to wash your lash extensions, but that is actually a myth. It’s essential to wash your extensions daily to keep them clean. If you are not cleaning them properly, it can cause a buildup of bacteria that can lead to eye infections. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to properly wash your eyelash extensions.
Wash Your Face
First, you will need to wash your face using a cleanser, preferably one that is oil-free. Make sure you are thoroughly washing your whole face—you don’t want to miss any areas. Then, rinse your face off with water and pat dry with a towel.
Cleanser Brush
Next, you will use an eyelash cleanser brush to clean your lash extensions. Make sure you are using a brush intended for use on lash extensions. Find a brush that is the right shape and size for you. Then, you start by wetting your brush with water.
Lash Wash
Once you have your lash brush wet, you will take a lash cleansing wash to begin cleaning your lashes. Foaming washes are one of the best choices for lash extensions as they cleanse thoroughly and are less likely to get into your eyes. Lash cleansers help remove any buildup of oil, makeup, sweat, and bacteria from the extensions.
Wash Process
Take one pump of your lash cleanser and apply it to your eye (you will be washing only one eye at a time). Next, use your wetted brush to work the foaming cleanser into the lash line to clean the extensions. Gently move your brush in the direction of the lashes, and follow the whole length of the lash line. Then, clean around the eyelid, under the eye, and at the lower lash line.
Rinse and Dry
When you have finished washing each eye, rinse your eyes with warm water. Make sure you completely rinse all the soap from your lashes. You shouldn’t leave any leftover residue as it can cause your extensions to wear down more quickly. To dry your lash extensions, you can pat them dry with a towel, or you can use a handheld fan. If you choose to use a fan, make sure you have it on a cool setting, you do not want to use heat as that can damage your lashes. That’s how you keep your lash extensions clean!
Now that you know how to properly wash your eyelash extensions, you will have stronger, more durable lashes. Properly caring for your extensions improves their retention and helps them stay on for extended periods of time.
