In their latest seductive track, “Lungs,” FIIZ, the Brooklyn-based electronic pop duo comprising Fiona and Isabelle, takes listeners on an alluring journey that sweeps them into a realm of their own daydreams.

With a perfect fusion of impactful lyrics and captivating electronic instrumentals, the song masterfully captures the intense feeling of being infatuated with someone, as if one’s heart might burst out of their chest.

“‘Lungs’ is about what it feels like to be with a woman for the first time and how overwhelming and powerful that can feel,” Fiona says. “It captures that desire with someone new to just continue to kiss them, and completely ignore the need to breathe.”

FIIZ’s unique approach to storytelling and expression in “Lungs” stands as a testament to the celebration of queer sensuality and love. With lyrics like, “Giving you consent so come on take it all,” and “No one sees me like you do, no one in the room but you. You’re the only one who gets to see underneath,” the duo broadens the scope of pop and dance music, pushing boundaries and celebrating the concept of consent and mutual communication in intimacy.

“From a joint perspective, we were really interested in creating a song that celebrated consent. There are so many love songs and lust songs out there, but not a lot of them touch on the idea that there is a mutual communication about intimacy that comes with such ease and fun.”

FIIZ fearlessly breaks barriers and subverts heteronormative pop storytelling with their empowering presence and unapologetic expression in “Lungs.” The duo’s dedication to embracing their authentic selves transforms their music into a powerful outlet for conveying raw and unfiltered emotions.
