The world of publishing has changed beyond recognition over the last few years. With the advent of Amazon’s self-publishing machine and their stranglehold over the business, many of our beloved publishing houses have vanished.

None of us will forget the loss of Samhain in a hurry. So I thought it time to post a reminder about how important our Independent Publishing houses are to this industry.

Extasy Books is my publishing house. They invest a hell of a lot of money into their authors. They pay for cover art, editors, proofers, uploaders, printing, the whole thing basically. So before a book even goes live, in eBook format or print, they have already spent a hell of a lot of money to get it ready to go. All my books are available on their site to buy directly, but they also make sure that my books may be found on Amazon, Kobo, Barnes and Noble etc. You would be shocked at the return they get for every book sold on those other sites. By the time Amazon take their slice, there is little left and Extasy have all their staff to pay as well as their authors, so it is one hell of a mountain they have to climb. Who do you prefer to buy your books from? The actual publisher? Or Amazon?

But Amazon is easier I hear you say! Well, I can understand that. The one click system is a work of genius, but it is by no means the only option available.

It is very easy to download any book from extasy onto your KINDLE!

First, open an account, it is free. Then in your device settings inside your Amazon Kindle account, enter @extasybooks.com as allowed.

On your eXtasy account page, enter your Kindle email. You will find your Kindle email address at Amazon on your Kindle account pages. Once you have this set up, click on the Kindle icon next to the book you have purchased – you will find it on your book shelf – and it will automatically arrive on your Kindle device in 20mins or less. EASY!!

So you see, purchasing books from the publisher direct is very easy. Also, you will find in many cases that it is cheaper to buy direct, or there may be other incentives. Extasy, for instance, give 10% back on every book that you buy on their site, all ready for you to use against your next purchase! Marvellous!

Then there are the authors themselves. I feel mighty privileged to be a part of Extasy because they have a huge stable of the most incredible authors and without Extasy there to publish our work, many of our books may never have seen the light of day. I, for one, would find it difficult to self-publish. To have to pay for a book cover, editing, proofing and all the rest of it is beyond my means, but this wonderful, independent publishing house does all of that for me and boy are they good at it, far better than if I were to attempt such a thing myself. Their team of professionals is just astounding and it never fails to amaze me how much they polish my work and give me something back that I can be so very proud of. They are the experts at this, not me and I thank my lucky stars the day they took me under their wing.

So this is my love letter to Independent Publishers, my plea, if you like, for you to give them a chance. By purchasing books directly from their website, you allow other books to be made, other authors to be discovered, wonderful books from some amazing people. Without these gems we will lose everything about this industry that has made it so great. Publishing houses are like us, they are unique, full of personality, creative, individual, and they also need our love.

I would like to introduce you to Dead Camp book 3, available at Extasy books now!

To understand the present, you must first understand the past.

As Wewelsburg castle burns, Eli carries Isaiah to safety. So much is lost, Malachi is gone, the Demon from Eli’s terrible past is reborn into a world already at war, and to make matters worse, Gideon is back. Yet, before Eli can even reach the sanctuary of his home, he learns a painful truth about Gideon, the truth of why he left him, and Eli can barely hold onto his own sanity. Eli quickly understands that not everything in life, or death, is black and white, and sometimes to protect the ones we love, we have to make the greatest sacrifice of all.

Something is coming. Eli can feel it, there, in the darkness, taunting him. The truth of his own mysterious identity. But the road to the truth is paved with the pain of a story that he has to hear, a story that will change his perception of history forever, a story of great love, and a story of two lovers who died to change the world. He does not want to hear it, he does not want to believe it, but if he is to understand who he was, if he is to understand why he was made Vampire, he has no choice but to listen as history unfolds before him.

With Morbius close at his heals, the truth is finally out, and Eli can either allow himself to be crushed beneath the burden of his own identity, or allow the world to be consumed by the evil knocking at his door.

Death is just the beginning – love is the end.

What a great piece and well written. It sure gives insight into how much goes into publishing a book. It’s changed my mind about buying direct as well, I was one of those one click Amazon readers, but I am going to give buying direct from the publisher a try.
