To say Daniel Craig has had an easy time in recent days is one that is a complete lie. From the beginning, Bond 25 seems to have had a fair share of problems. For a franchise as old as the James Bond franchise, things would seem to be moving along better than they are today. However, that’s not been the case. When the movie began filming, it was supposed to be under the creative control of Danny Boyle, the director, and John Hodge, the screenwriter Boyle chose to work with. However, following their departure from the film over creative differences with longtime Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, and Craig, the star. This led to the hiring of Cary Joji Fukunaga as director and a reworking of the script by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the longtime Bond film screenwriters.
Craig has just been seen at JFK International Airport in New York this past Sunday ready and willing to jump into action. He might have needed a dual clock to wake up. However, there’s one slight problem: Craig has crutches and a cast on his left foot. Will this be worked into the Bond 25 plot? Could it include a dual clock? It would be somewhat interesting if they worked this into the plot. However, it’s likely it will not and this will continue to delay filming.
Another incident has also occurred on the set of the film. An explosion occurred, which caused one crew member to experience an injury, as was reported on the James Bond 007 Twitter account.
“During the filming of a controlled explosion on the set of Bond 25 today at Pinewood Studios, the damage was caused to the exterior of the 007 stage,” the tweet read. “There were no injuries, however, one crew member outside the stage has sustained a minor injury.” It seems strange to put out a statement that says there were no injuries but then that there was an injury. The Bond production seems to be in a flux. It could use a dual clock. But, that’s not all that’s occurred.
Outside of Craig’s moving his way to the JFK Airport in New York, he and Rami Malek, the lead villain of the film, will not be able to film scenes together. The UK Daily Express says that the completion of filming will be pushed back to late October or early November. Filming was said to finish up originally in September. This will delay the production even longer from where it’s been. It’s a shame to see such an exciting film go to waste. They might need a dual clock to set things straight.
With the plot allegedly focusing on genetic warfare, this could be a very 21st century Bond film. It would be fascinating to see Bond go up against this type of enemy, which he has not done so before. Bond has battled an enemy who has manipulated their own genetics in Die Another Day but this certainly sounds like new territory generally for Bond. Malek has even so far as to begin to speak with genetic experts about his character and the plot as a whole in the film.
This film sounds like, if it ever avoids further pitfalls, could be not only quite a final adventure for the Daniel Craig Bond but one that challenges him like never before and changes the course of his life forever more.
