With Christmas looming, you will undoubtedly be looking to find that unique item to make a loved one feel special. The big yearly gadget expo, CES, has given a taste of things to come – this year, there will be over 4,000 tech companies vying for your purchases. Simply put, there’s a lot of competition, but that means a lot of variety, too.
With that in mind, you’ll likely be finding a lot of gadgets advertised to you this season; whether that be for recreation, fitness, or something different altogether. A few areas stand out among the crowd. They represent the most functionality and enjoyment for what they cost and can have a real positive impact on the enjoyment of your day.
Exciting music technology
Headphones are an essential part of the day-to-day kit many adults carry around. Listening to music is perfect during the morning commute, while you’re doing chores around the house and sometimes even at work; headphones provide a little distraction from the day and keep your brain engaged. Lately, fresh innovation has created a range of higher quality, yet more affordable, headphones. Of particular note is new tech from Creative. According to a CNET report, $100m of R&D investment over 20 years has produced an exciting new way to listen to audio material.
Experts reckon this new technology will be able to deliver the immersion of a 7.1 speaker system through headphones. That’s the equivalent of being in a cinema from the comfort of your home. Reviews have been positive, and it may be that a new set of headphones will be the most cost-effective and impactful gadget of the season.
In with the old
Those familiar with the UK will probably know something about the Teasmade. Revolutionary in a country of tea lovers, it would make a cup of tea, ready for consumption in time with the alarm going off. The machine fell out of favor due to the loud, spluttering nature of the machine, which could sometimes spray lukewarm water on the snoozer.
Today, Teasmade-style devices have been overhauled. Reliable and classy-looking devices, such as the Barisieur, are listed by influential mag GQ as being one of the best gifts to give this season. It promises a fresh cup of coffee (or tea, if you prefer) without any of the technical hitches. The smell alone should be enough to help people get out of bed and start their day productively.
Smart sleep systems

Adults tend to have a problem with sleeping, given the incredible pressures of day-to-day life and never-ending distractions offered by the internet and smart technology. According to the CDC, at least 15 states host adults who receive less than 7 hours of sleep nightly, putting them at risk of a host of health problems. Dodow is one example of smart sleep systems that rectify that; while boring-sounding, they offer a remarkable insight into your sleep without being intrusive. What better gift to give than a good night’s sleep and improved productivity in day to day life?
Gadgets are highly sought after and there are few times of the year more intensive for gadgets seekers than Christmas. Finding what’s good among the chaff can be difficult, but focusing on your enjoyment of life is a good way about it. These gadgets offer a little inspiration to find that.
