Roy has a crush on Steve, so when a work-related ski weekend is offered, Roy jumps at the chance to finally lay a trap for his hunky coworker. An abandoned cabin nearby is perfect for his scheme, and Roy stocks it with champagne, rubbers, and lube. But fate intervenes, and it’s not Steve, but Ranger Josh, who ends up trapped in the cabin with Roy during an avalanche. Roy’s plan might be ruined, but there’s still a chance for a very happy New Year indeed.

Sizzling hot festive short story

I love a good short story. I particularly love short stories centred around the holiday season. These books are generally light and sweet and put you in a holiday mood. When they are also unexpectedly funny, a touch ridiculous and sizzling hot, then they rise like cream (pun intended) to the top of your hot chocolatey Christmas reads. Best Laid Trap by Rob Rosen is all of this and more. A hot steaming mug of chocolate on a cold winters day.

Roy has a crush on co-worker Steve and when their company hires a ski lodge for the staff New Years Eve celebration it seems like the perfect opportunity to make his move. After discovering an empty cabin near the lodge, Roy sets out to lure Steve into a night of, hopefully, lust filled passion. The best, or worst, laid plans can easily come undone however, and when an avalanche (well, a small snow slide) blocks Roy inside the cabin, sans Steve, it seems all hope of hot mountain sex is gone, along with an escape route.

Enter Ranger Josh, a gorgeous, hulking bear of a man, snow shovel aloft, to rescue Roy. With perfectly good champagne and caviar on hand, not to mention condoms and lube, Steve begins to think that rescue may not be his best option for New Years Eve. Bringing the new year in with a bang may yet be on the cards, if the twinkle in Ranger Josh's eyes is anything to go by.

Best Laid Trap is funny, silly, very very very naughty, and nice. In other words, typical Rob Rosen, (if you don't know what I mean by that you seriously need to read this author!) and
just the tonic for the holiday season.
