Benoit's Surprise Christmas is the perfect novella for a lazy afternoon when you need a light, heartwarming, read. Having just read a series of angst ridden dramas and books with complex, twisted tales I was so ready for a book like this one.

Benoit Girault is an expat Belgian, now living and working in administration at Toys For All in Milwaukee. He's only been there a few months and is feeling his way with his new job, in a new country. Benoit has one very hot co worker he's been crushing on since day one. He'd like the opportunity to feel his way with him as well, but keeping his love life out of the office seems prudent for the new employee.

Jake Manning has certainly noticed the new hire. Like Benoit he is hesitant to begin an office romance, but when his friend and manager, Randall, gives the two men a job to complete together, he almost seems to be playing matchmaker. Since Randall married his secretary, perhaps an office romance isn't so taboo after all.

When Benoit gets sick whilst trying to organise a Christmas party for visiting Belgian clients, Jake steps in to help. After all, Benoit has no family in America, and has yet to form friendships beyond a passing hello. Or so Jake tells himself.

Can these two men, with so much chemistry between them, get over their uncertainty and make a real and lasting connection? Will the clients child ever recover from seeing St Nicholas kissing his helper? All this and much more will keep you turning the pages of this book until it's very satisfying conclusion. Benoit's Surprise Christmas doesn't have a complex or riveting plot line, it is, however, a delightful little book that will put a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.
