Is beauty only skin deep?

Chemist Dr. Robert “Belle” Belleterre loves flowers, green trees, his best friend Judy, and “his baby:” the new face cream he developed to help put his father’s small cosmetics company on the map. Sadly he gets no help from his alcoholic, gambling-addicted father, who loses Belle in a poker game to Magnus Strong, the CEO of Beauty, Inc., the largest American cosmetics company—a man infamous for his scarred ugliness.

Belle finds himself uprooted from his home, living in a wildly crazy apartment in New York owned by Mr. Pennymaker, and completely unprepared for his mad attraction to the charismatic Strong. Feeling like a traitor, Belle fights his passion, only to see more and more of the goodness and humility hidden by Strong’s ugly face. But when Belle’s family starts manipulating his life again, the odds turn against happiness for beautiful Belle and his beloved beast.

Beauty, Inc. is the third book in the Pennymaker Tale series. Each book is linked by the presence of Carstairs Pennymaker, a magical, mysterious "little elf of a man" whose wise advice and kindness helps people when they need it most. All books in this series are also themed around classic fairy tales but are otherwise standalones.

Dr Robert (Belle) Belleterre is a twenty-two-year-old chemist prodigy, working in the laboratory of his father's small cosmetic company. He is a stunningly beautiful young man, but is far more interested in finishing the development of his exciting new moisturiser and it's ground breaking packaging than looking for love. He has his best friend Julie, the beautiful Oregon wilderness to live in, and plenty of time for a love life in the future. Unfortunately, Belle's father has succumbed to alcohol and gambling addictions after losing his wife to cancer. Even the prospect of Belle's amazing new product and the success it may bring to his company aren't enough to pull him out of his downward spiral.

Magnus Strong is only thirty years old and already the CEO of America's biggest cosmetic company. With his face severely scarred in an accident years before, Magnus devotes all his time and energy to his company and philanthropic endeavors. After all, finding love isn't on the agenda for someone like him. Or so he believes. When Magnus learns of the brilliant Belle he is fascinated, and when he sees this breathtaking beauty at a cosmetics conference he can't get him out of his mind. A poker game with Belle's father leads to Magnus winning all the stock in his company, but there's something Magnus wants more. Exchanging the stock for Belle, and bringing him to Magnus' New York headquarters, may seem like a good idea, but it certainly won't endear him to Belle.

Belle arrives in New York expecting the worst. He certainly doesn't imagine he'll be taken to a beautiful apartment, full of surprises, and welcoming group of tenants. He's not in Oregon anymore, and all Belle's assumptions will be turned upside down. If Magnus thought he knew what he was doing, he's in for another think. With Julie in trouble, and his father and brother ignoring him, Belle has nowhere to turn. The world as these two young men knew it is about to change significantly, but with the help of landlord Mr. P and friends and enemies in high places, there's no telling what will happen next.

Beauty, Inc. is an enjoyable, twisted, take on Beauty and The Beast. It doesn't follow the storyline of the original fairytale but rather borrows aspects of the two MC's and takes them on a highly original journey of their own. It is a fun, entertaining read with some great characters and an engaging storyline.
