About the Author
Mary Calmes lives in Lexington, Kentucky, with her husband and two children and loves all the seasons except summer. She graduated from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, with a bachelor's degree in English literature. Due to the fact that it is English lit and not English grammar, do not ask her to point out a clause for you, as it will so not happen. She loves writing, becoming immersed in the process, and falling into the work. She can even tell you what her characters smell like. She loves buying books and going to conventions to meet her fans.

Intense storyline
Overall

3.0

I think, in order to not do this book an injustice, I need to separate the story from the audio.
I rather liked the story despite the unpleasant nature of parts of it, Leo was a wonderfully protective man, although completely oblivious for much of the book, and Charlie was incredibly sweet on the whole, but boy did he display his bossy, dominant side towards the end! There were a lot of good, strong secondary characters in the book....perhaps too many given the relatively short length. This isn't really, to my mind, a romantic story, the 'relationship' between the MCs being very much contained in the final chapter, but it's a fairly intense story, that I personally think would have benefitted from being longer, with the main issues explored in more depth.
The Audio.......this was my first audiobook, and it really isn't my cup of tea at all. I read very quickly, but increasing the speed on the audio too much, results in very clipped speech which grates very quickly.  I do like the narrators voice tho, it's incredibly appealing, emotive and full of expression. I would enjoy conversation with him I think, but will definitely stick to reading my books myself from now on.
